A slice of Scandinavian cool

The super-stylish Swedish brand ACNE derived its name from ‘Ambition to Create Novel Expressions’ and started out as an ad agency in 1996. It evolved into a creative collective that today includes everything from Acne Film to Acne Paper (an independent magazine). A lifestyle label was born which initially resulted in a small collection of jeans that was distributed primarily to friends and clients. The denim clothing was featured in Swedish Elle which lead to a surge in popularity and soon stores all over the country were requesting stock. A full collection was finally launched in 1998 and over a decade later, the label can be found globally with 16 flagships in nine countries. Their focus on ultra luxe basics with that can’t-put-your-finger-on-it super cool style has ensured a loyal in-the-know following.

This beautiful sand washed grey Sun Silk shirt is typically Acne. It is from their Spring/Summer 2010 collection. It is masculine in cut and loose in fit with rolled up, twisted edge sleeves but because it is made of fine, lightweight silk it hangs and drapes beautifully on the body. The shirt is actually a size 38 which equates to a UK 10/12. It is actually a little oversized for the model but I liked the way it fitted.

It would look stunning tucked into a fitted black leather pencil skirt or worn with skinny jeans and ankle boots. The shirt was originally about £105. It has been worn a handful of times, is in excellent condition and is priced at £65.
